ABSTRACT
Objetivo: avaliar o mercado de trabalho do cirurgião-dentista, nas diferentes especialidades, na região norte do Brasil, além de avaliar a relação cirurgião-dentista/habitante e especialista/habitante, visando melhorar a compreensão dos rumos da profissão, direcionando a atuação profissional. Material e Métodos: foram coletados dados do Conselho Federal de Odontologia e do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística. Resultados: Acre, Amazonas, Amapá e Pará são os Estados que apresentam índices menores que o recomendado pela Organização Mundial de Saúde (1:1.500), diferente de Roraima, Rondônia e Tocantins. Esta região concentra 3,73% do total de cirurgiões-dentistas de todo o Brasil. Conclusões: o mercado de trabalho para os especialistas da região norte das áreas de Prótese Buco-Maxilo-Facial, Odontogeriatria, Patologia Bucal, Odontologia para Pacientes com Necessidades Especiais, Odontologia do Trabalho e da Estomatologia apresenta-se com melhor proporção de especialista/habitante, enquanto as áreas de Ortodontia e Endodontia apresentam maior proporção de especialista/habitante.
Objective: To evaluate the job market for dental surgeons, within their different specialties, in the North region of Brazil, in addition to evaluating dental surgeon/inhabitant and specialist/inhabitant ratios. The study aims to better understand the trends in this profession, and also suggests fields of professional activity. Materials and Methods: Data was collected from the Brazilian National Council of Odontology and the Brazilian National Institute of Geography and Statistics. Results: Acre, Amazonas, Amapá and Pará are the states within this region that have lower professional/inhabitant ratio levels than recommended by the World Health Organization (1:1,500), as opposed to the states of Roraima, Rondônia and Tocantins. This region concentrates 3.73% of all dental surgeons in Brazil. Conclusions: The job market for specialists in the North region in the fields of Bucomaxillofacial Prosthetics, Odontogeriatrics, Mouth Pathology, Dentistry for patients with special needs, Workplace Dentistry and Stomatology feature the best specialist/inhabitant ratio, while the fields of Orthodontics and Endodontics have higher specialist/inhabitant ratios.
